Very expected game when 13th ranked Aix-Maurienne (2-4) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Nantes (4-2) 89-79 on Saturday. Nantes shot 61.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. American-Armenian point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Swiss power forward David Ramseyer (202-87) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Antonio Ballard (194-88, college: Miami, OH) added 17 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aix-Maurienne's coach Emmanuel Schmitt let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Nantes maintains sixth position with 4-2 record. Aix-Maurienne at the other side dropped to the fifteenth place with four games lost. Nantes will meet at home Saint Chamond (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aix-Maurienne will play against JA Vichy and hope to secure a win.
