Regular Season Round 8: Fos-Provence - St-Chamond 101-73

Very predictable result in Fos-sur-Mer where sixth ranked Provence Basket (5-2) smashed 12th ranked Saint Chamond (3-5) 101-73 on Saturday. Provence Basket made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Provence Basket outrebounded Saint Chamond 40-25 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Provence Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Azerbaijani forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: BeoBasket) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Jamar Diggs (190-88, college: Wofford, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Provence Basket's coach Remi Giuitta felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Marcus Relphorde (198-88, college: Colorado) who recorded 22 points and 4 steals and power forward Jerome Cazenobe (204-89) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Provence Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with Nancy. Saint Chamond lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Rouen. Provence Basket will meet league's leader Denain Voltaire on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Saint Chamond will play against Souffelweyersheim (#10) and hope to secure a win.
