There was a minor upset in Adana where 13th ranked Ceyhan (2-8) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Istanbul Univ. (2-8) 66-53. Istanbul Univ. forced 19 Ceyhan turnovers and outrebounded them 51-30 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American center Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-94, college: Pittsburgh) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Meltem Topaloglu (178-99) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side. American guard Whitney Knight (190-93, college: FGCU) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Beril Arik (-94) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Ceyhan in the defeat. Four Ceyhan players scored in double figures. Istanbul Univ. moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Ceyhan and Botas. Ceyhan lost their fifth game in a row. Istanbul Univ.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Karsiyaka (#10) in Izmir and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
