Regular Season Round 16: Verona - Urania MI 93-80
Date: January 31, 2021
There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Verona (6-6) defeated at home 7th ranked Milano (6-7) 93-80 on Sunday. Verona made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Milano's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Francesco Candussi (211-94) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Giovanni Severini (197-93) who added 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Verona's coach Andrea Diana used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American Nikolas Raivio (193-86, college: Portland, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Wayne Langston (201-93, college: Murray St., agency: Alti Sport) scored 13 points. Five Verona and four Milano players scored in double figures. Verona moved-up to seventh place in A2. Loser Milano dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Verona will face Mantova (#11) in Mirandola in the next round. Milano will play at home against Casale and hope to win that game.
