Rather expected game when 11th ranked Neptunas-Akv. (9-15) lost on the road to ninth ranked Vilkaviskis (11-12) 81-75 on Thursday. The winners were led by the former international Martynas Linkevicius (196-85, agency: BIG) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and center Povilas Gaidys (206-91, college: Southeastern) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Even 23 points by forward Nojus Mineikis (201-0) did not help to save the game for Neptunas-Akv.. Forward Gediminas Lesciauskas (195-1) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Vilkaviskis maintains ninth position with 11-12 record. Loser Neptunas-Akv. dropped to the twelfth place with 15 games lost. Vilkaviskis will meet higher ranked Palanga (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Neptunas-Akv. will play against Telsiai (#6) and hope to secure a win.
