No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Vytis (16-5) beat 10th ranked Vilnius (9-14) in Sakiai 101-85 on Thursday. Vytis dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Vilnius' 38 and made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. Vytis forced 23 Vilnius turnovers. Strangely Vilnius outrebounded Vytis 37-24 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) who scored that evening 25 points and 6 rebounds and the former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) supported him with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Vytis players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 6 rebounds by center Rokas Jocius (208-3) did not help to save the game for Vilnius. Guard Arnas Adomavicius (193-0, college: UNCG) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vytis have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 16-5 record. Loser Vilnius keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Ezerunas. Vytis will meet at home Ezerunas (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Vilnius will play against Mazeikiai and hope to secure a win.
