The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Palanga's (13-11) home victory over 9th ranked Vilkaviskis (11-13) 82-71 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Palanga especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Mantvydas Staniulis (186-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. Four Palanga players scored in double figures. The former international Martynas Linkevicius (196-85, agency: BIG) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Povilas Gaidys (206-91, college: Southeastern) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Vilkaviskis' coach Kestutis Juozaitis let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Palanga maintains eighth place with 13-11 record. Newly promoted Vilkaviskis keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Palanga will meet at home Delikatesas (#13) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vilkaviskis will play against Vytis (#3) and hope to secure a win.
