Regular Season Round 18: Horsens IC - Naestved 80-96

There was a minor upset when 3rd ranked Horsens IC (13-7) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Naestved (12-10) 96-80 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Naestved. Horsens IC was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naestved shot 61.5 percent from the field. Naestved had a 35-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American center Jarel Spellman (208-96, college: Sacred Heart, agency: Players Group) scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and British forward Samuel Idowu (204-97, college: St.Peter's) chipped in 18 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Charles Callison (185-95, college: WSU) with 21 points and 4 assists and Bosnian forward Vedran Borovcanin (199-85) scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Naestved and four Horsens IC players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naestved maintains fifth position with 12-10 record. Horsens IC at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Naestved will have a break next round. Horsens IC will play on the road against the league's second-placed Randers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
