Regular Season Round 11: Hottur - Haukar 90-84

Everything could happen in Egilsstadir at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Hottur and 12th ranked Haukar had identical 2-7 record. This time Hottur used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Hafnarfjordur 90-84 on Thursday night. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-84. Hottur looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Michael Mallory (185-94, college: S.Connecticut) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Hottur players scored in double figures. Ingvi Gudmundsson (195-98, college: St.Louis) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Spanish-Colombian point guard Hansel Atencia (178-97, college: Master's, agency: Players Group) scored 25 points. Hottur (3-7) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Thor AK. Loser Haukar stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Hottur will face league's leader Keflavik on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Haukar will play against Thor AK (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
