Regular Season Round 16: Alcala - La Matanza 91-82

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Alcala (5-4) defeated at home much higher ranked La Matanza (5-4) 91-82 on Saturday. Alcala made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 La Matanza turnovers. La Matanza was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Carlos Unanue (193-0) fired 18 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Forward Sergio Rodriguez (194-84) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Franger Pirela (187-2) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Mali swingman Ladji Dembele (192-3) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Alcala moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated La Matanza. Alcala will face Guadalajara (#6) on the road in the next round.
