The most surprising game was the first loss of Ironi Ashkelon (11-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (8-4) 74-73. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Ironi Ashkelon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for French point guard Arthur Rozenfeld (181-95) who saved his team from a defeat with 16 points and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The former international Raviv Pitshon (198-89, agency: Ron Sport) contributed with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Ben Ivri (201-98) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and American forward AlLonzo Coleman (207-89, college: Presbyterian) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Ironi Ashkelon. Four Ironi Ashkelon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to third place, which they share with H.Galilee and I.Ramat Gan. Ironi Ashkelon at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Maccabi Ashdod is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Elitzur Yavne (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ironi Ashkelon will play against Ironi Kiryat Ata (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
