Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Cornella (5-10) was outscored by fifth ranked Gran Canaria 2 (9-6) in Las Palmas 90-61 on Saturday. Gran Canaria 2 made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Cornella turnovers. It was a good game for center Ruben Lopez (205-2) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Dominican guard Jean Montero (189-3) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Gran Canaria 2 players scored in double figures. Center Victor Serrano (211-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and forward Isaac Mayo (195-1) added 12 points in the effort for Cornella. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gran Canaria 2 maintains fifth position in Silver with 9-6 record. Newly promoted Cornella keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. Gran Canaria 2 will face La Roda (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cornella will play against Benicarlo and hope to win that game.
