Regular Season Round 40: Jonava - Vilnius 95-65

NKL top team - Jonava (22-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Vilnius (10-17) 95-65. Jonava dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Vilnius' 30. Jonava forced 23 Vilnius turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Vilnius' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Kahlil Thomas (203-94, college: Rider) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and the former international forward Darius Tarvydas (199-91) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Jonava players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Jokubas Rubinas (187-2) responded with 12 points and 6 assists and center Rokas Jocius (208-3) scored 6 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jonava have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-2 record. Vilnius lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Neptunas-Akv.. Jonava are looking forward to face Vytis (#3) in Sakiai in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vilnius will play on the road against Vilkaviskis (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
