There was a minor upset when 7th ranked La Fecha (5-7) was edged by ninth ranked Univ.Valladolid (4-6) in Arroyo Encomienda 73-70 on Saturday. Javier Martinez (187-97) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Alvaro Encinas (202-94) contributed with 6 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Millan Lopez (185-94) answered with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Argentinian-Italian point guard Silvano Merlo (178-2) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for La Fecha. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Univ.Valladolid moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Baskonia B. Loser La Fecha dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Univ.Valladolid's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Valladolid to the arena .
