The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked MU Varna's (2-6) road loss to fifth ranked Shumen (4-4) 68-90 on Sunday. Shumen dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to MU Varna's 18. Shumen forced 21 MU Varna turnovers. Rostislav Tonchev (202-95) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Simeon Georgiev (183-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Shumen had such big advantage that coach Yanko Yankov felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Swingman Milen Cholakov (195-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals and swingman Ilhan Arabadjiev (195-91) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for MU Varna. Five Shumen and four MU Varna players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Shumen maintains fifth place with 4-4 record. MU Varna lost fourth consecutive game. MU Varna at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
