An interesting game for ALBA Berlin (16-2) which hosted in Berlin second-best Crailsheim Merlins (16-4). Third ranked ALBA Berlin had an easy win 100-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Crailsheim Merlins. ALBA Berlin made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Crailsheim Merlins 48-27 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. ALBA Berlin shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Crailsheim Merlins helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Peyton Siva (183-90, college: Louisville) who led his team to a victory with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international forward Niels Giffey (200-91, college: UConn, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Belgian swingman Elias Lasisi (191-92) answered with 9 points and Canadian guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont, agency: BeoBasket) added 5 points and 5 assists in the effort for Crailsheim Merlins. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Crailsheim Merlins at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Oldenburg. ALBA Berlin are looking forward to face ratiopharm Ulm (#6) on the road in the next round. Crailsheim Merlins will play against Bayreuth and are hoping to win this game.
