Top ranked Ramla (13-2) recorded its second loss on the court of second ranked Ashdod on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by Ashdod 102-96. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ramla. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Ashdod made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Ramla 54-37 including a 41-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. Point guard Alexis Peterson (173-95, college: Syracuse) chipped in 28 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Tiffany Mitchell (175-94, college: S.Carolina) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Five Ramla players scored in double figures. Ashdod maintains second place with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Ramla. Ramla at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Ashdod are looking forward to face Bnot Hertzeliya (#4) at home in the next round. Ramla will have a break next round.
