Regular Season Round 20: Avila - La Fecha 64-54

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked La Fecha (6-9) lost on the road to ninth ranked Avila (5-8) 64-54 on Saturday. Avila outrebounded La Fecha 46-27 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Danish swingman Alexander Bak (193-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points. Center Ander Perez (217-96, college: UNOH) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Avila players scored in double figures. Argentinian-Italian point guard Silvano Merlo (178-2) replied with 17 points and center Hector Parras (198-89) added 8 points in the effort for La Fecha. La Fecha's coach Roberto Gonzalez let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Avila maintains ninth position in Group A-B with 5-8 record. La Fecha at the other side dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Avila will face higher ranked Filipenses (#6) in Palencia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
