Regular Season Round 18: AEK - Iraklis 100-97 OT
Date: March 20, 2021
Seventh-ranked Iraklis (7-11) made lots of trouble for third ranked AEK (14-4) in Athens on Saturday. AEK managed to secure only three-point victory 100-97. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 27-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-12. The best player for the winners was American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) who scored 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). International Linos-Spyridon Chrysikopoulos (206-92) chipped in 18 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Josh Hagins (188-94, college: UALR, agency: Haylett Sports) who recorded 32 points and his fellow American import forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: WVU) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Iraklis' coach Thanasis Skourtopoulos tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. AEK have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Lavrio. Iraklis at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. AEK will face Aris (#10) in Thessaloniki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Iraklis will play on the road against the league's second-placed Lavrio and hope to win that game.
