PeKa eased past Catz in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. Catz Lappeenranta was better in second period 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Catz Lappeenranta 50-28 including a 20-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Noora Jarvikangas (184-94, college: ORU) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Russian power forward Elena Melto (184-86) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds. Peli-Karhut's coach Roope Makela used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Mariah King (188-90, college: EIU) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Veera Pirttinen (180-97) scored 18 points and 6 assists.
