Very important is a home loss of third ranked Baskonia (20-7) against eleventh ranked Gran Canaria (11-15) on Sunday night. Host Baskonia was crushed by Gran Canaria in Vitoria 99-78. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of French point guard Andrew Albicy (177-90) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American power forward Matt Costello (206-93, college: Michigan St.) who added 17 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Pierria Henry (193-93, college: Charlotte) responded with 18 points and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Lithuanian forward Tadas Sedekerskis (200-98) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gran Canaria maintains eleventh position with 11-15 record. Defending champion Baskonia dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. Gran Canaria will meet at home Zaragoza (#12) in the next round. Baskonia will play against Andorra (#9) and hope to secure a win.
