Regular Season Round 27: Rueil - Challans 90-93

The most exciting game of round 27 in the NM1 took place in Rueil. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked Rueil (8-9) to fourth ranked Vendee Challans (12-6) 93-90 on Tuesday evening. Vendee Challans looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Devon Thomas (183-94, college: Texas Tech) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. Swingman Kevin Bichard (196-86) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Vendee Challans' coach Antoine Michon used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Steven Ricard (200-90) answered with 24 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Warren Racine (189-95) added 12 points and 9 assists in the effort for Rueil. Four Vendee Challans and five Rueil players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Stade Rochelais. Rueil lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Vendee Challans is looking forward to face La Rochelle (#4) at home in the next round. Rueil will play against Vanves (#14) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
