Lavrio (15-4) outlasted AEK (15-5) in overtime by three points 97-94 on Saturday night. The game took place in Athens. But the guests from Lavrio were better at the end. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of AEK. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 28-21 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-12. Lavrio looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. AEK was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tyson Carter (193-98, college: MSU, agency: David Lee Services) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import point guard Glenn Cosey (183-92, college: EKU) who added 19 points and 6 assists during the contest. Angolan center Yanick Moreira (211-91, college: SMU, agency: BeoBasket) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Daryl Macon (190-95, college: Arkansas) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Four AEK players scored in double figures. AEK's coach Ilias Papatheodorou tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lavrio have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. AEK at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. Lavrio will face league's leader Panathinaikos in Athens in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. AEK will play on the road against Kolossos HH in Rodou and hope to win that game.
