Regular Season Round 6: Marousi - Psychiko 62-69

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Psychiko (#7) and Marousi (#1). Marousi was defeated at home 62-69 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Marousi. Guard Alexis Kiritsis (198-82) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Nikolaos Papanikolaou (209-85) supported him with 7 points and 10 rebounds. Even 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-88) did not help to save the game for Marousi. Guard Yannis Gagaloudis (192-78) added 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Psychiko have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Olympiacos B. Newly promoted Marousi dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with Apollon P.. Psychiko will play against league's second-placed Apollon P. in Patra in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Marousi will play on the road against Enosi Kavalas in Kavalaa and hopes to get back on the winning track.
