Very expected game when 11th ranked Galitos-Barreiro (8-17) was smashed by third ranked Benfica (19-6) in Lisbona 97-77. Benfica had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The former international Betinho Gomes (202-85) stepped up and scored 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and American power forward Cameron Jackson (203-96, college: Wofford) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). They dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Academica. Benfica will play against bottom-ranked Maia Basket (#14) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Galitos-Barreiro will play against Esgueira (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
