Nineteenth-ranked Real Canoe (1-10) gave a tough game to Caceres Basket (6-3) on Sunday. Caceres Basket managed to secure only one-point victory 81-80. However their fans expected much easier game. Caceres Basket made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Strangely Real Canoe outrebounded Caceres Basket 42-29 including 35 on the defensive glass. Real Canoe was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Raven Barber (206-91, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: Slash Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Devin Schmidt (193-94, college: Delta St., agency: Duran International) helped adding 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Haitian-Canadian forward Kevin Bercy (201-94, college: St.Francis X.) with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and point guard Daniel de la Rua (181-97) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Real Canoe's coach Jose Rey rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caceres Basket will face Girona (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Real Canoe will play against Ourense (#14) and hope to win that game.
