Fifteenth-ranked Piombino (5-11) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Rimini (11-5) on Sunday. The visitors from Rimini managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Piombino. The former international power forward Tommaso Rinaldi (204-85, agency: Interperformances) saved the victory by scoring 12 points. Point guard Alexander Simoncelli (188-86, agency: SLN) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Rimini's coach Massimo Bernardi used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Center Giacomo Eliantonio (206-88) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Camillo Bianchi (195-94) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Piombino. Rimini moved-up to fourth place. Loser Piombino dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Rimini will face higher ranked Livorno Libertas (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Piombino will play against Faenza (#6) and hope to win that game.
