Finals Game 1: Venezia - Valencia 81-82

Valencia conquered the trophy in Szekszard tonight. They nipped Venezia thanks to two late free throws from Raquel Carrera. The teams were tied after three quarters but Valencia managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It all came down to the final seconds in this one. Raquel Carrera sank two free throws with 26 seconds left to give Valencia an 80-79 lead. Yvonne Anderson responded with a layup to give Venezia a narrow lead with one second left. But Yvonne Anderson fouled Raquel Carrera practically at the buzzer and the Spanish centre punished her opponents calmly sinking two free throws and sealing the victory. Australian guard Rebecca Allen (188-92, agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and swingman Queralt Casas (177-92) chipped in 20 points. Valencia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American-Serbian guard Yvonne Anderson (170-90, college: Texas) responded with 26 points and 4 assists and Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (197-89) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Valencia and five Venezia players scored in double figures.
