There was no surprise in Las Palmas where 9th ranked Gran Canaria (13-16) was defeated by second ranked FC Barcelona (26-4) 92-74 on Wednesday. FC Barcelona shot 60.4 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 66.7 percentage. FC Barcelona looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a great evening for the former international Nikola Mirotic (208-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds. Hungarian Adam Hanga (200-89, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 13 points and 8 assists. Four FC Barcelona players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Sean Kilpatrick (193-90, college: Cincinnati) responded with 14 points and Nigerian-American Stan Okoye (198-91, college: VMI) scored 13 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona maintains second place with 26-4 record having just three points less than leader Real Madrid. Loser Gran Canaria dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. FC Barcelona will meet at home La ICL Manresa (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gran Canaria will play against Blusens Monbus in Santiago de Comp and hope to secure a win.
