Regular Season Round 8: Amyntas D. - Marousi 64-63

A very close game took place in Athens between Amyntas D. and Marousi. Ninth ranked Amyntas D. (4-3) got a very close home victory over one of their biggest challengers Marousi (4-2). Amyntas D. managed to escape with a 1-point win 64-63 on Saturday evening. Amyntas D. forced 19 Marousi turnovers. The winners were led by forward Andreas Kanonidis (200-91) who scored that evening 17 points and 7 rebounds and guard Andriano Topalis (190-94) supported him with 10 points and 5 assists. Even 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by point guard Orfeas Stasinos (183-88) did not help to save the game for Marousi. Power forward Giorgos Arnokouros (202-0) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Amyntas D. have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Karditsas. Newly promoted Marousi dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. Amyntas D. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Marousi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Dafni.
