There was an upset when higher ranked Avila (7-9) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Valladolid (3-14) 78-71 on Sunday. Juan Garcia-Abril (195-3) stepped up and scored 15 points for the winners and forward Mario Puebla (198-98) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Valladolid's coach David Ensino used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side point guard Antonio Izquierdo (190-93, agency: Promo Sport ID) responded with 19 points and center Ander Perez (217-96, college: UNOH) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Valladolid maintains eleventh place in Group A-B with 3-14 record. Loser Avila keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Valladolid will face league's second-placed Burgos Nissan on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
