Regular Season Round 22: St-Chamond - Quimper 78-86

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Saint Chamond (5-13) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Quimper UJAP (12-6) 86-78 on Tuesday. Quimper UJAP looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Saint Chamond was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was DR Congolese forward Junior Etou (201-94, college: Tulsa) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Charly Pontens (190-95) chipped in 9 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Mathieu Guichard (187-88) who recorded 18 points and 7 assists and power forward Jerome Cazenobe (204-89) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively. Four Saint Chamond players scored in double figures. Saint Chamond's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Quimper UJAP moved-up to third place. Loser Saint Chamond dropped to the sixteenth position with 13 games lost. Quimper UJAP will face Souffelweyersheim (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saint Chamond will play against the league's second-placed Sluc Nancy (#2) and hope to win that game.
