Regular Season Round 23: Nantes - Poitiers 86-69

There was no surprise when 18th ranked Poitiers (3-15) lost on the road to thirteenth ranked Nantes (9-10) 86-69 on Friday. Nantes dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Poitiers' 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Quite impressive performance for American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 7 rebounds. American-Armenian point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) contributed with 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Nantes' coach Jean-Baptiste Lecrosnier allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-British point guard Akeem Williams (184-91, college: UMass Lowell) answered with 15 points and 7 assists and American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: LeMoyne) added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Poitiers. Nantes moved-up to twelfth place. Poitiers lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Nantes will face higher ranked Quimper UJAP (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Poitiers will play against Denain Voltaire (#7) and hope to win that game.
