Very expected game when 10th ranked Le Portel (8-11) was crushed at home by second ranked Cholet (16-2) 91-47 on Sunday. Cholet dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Le Portel's 30. Cholet forced 28 Le Portel turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Le Portel's players. It was a great evening for guard Leopold Delaunay (193-1) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. DR Congolese center Junior Tshunza (204-0) helped adding 11 points and 13 rebounds. Five Cholet players scored in double figures. Forward Alexandre Bondo (200-0) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Guinean forward Thierno Bah (202-1, college: MSU-W.Plains) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Cholet. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Le Portel dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. Cholet will face Gravelines (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Le Portel will play against Boulazac and hope to win that game.
