Siauliai (#7) forced the game against Neptunas (#6) into a double-overtime, but lost by one point 106-107 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime then Siauliai managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Neptunas who were better in double-overtime eventually winning that period 20-9. Neptunas outrebounded Siauliai 54-33 including a 41-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Siauliai was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Martynas Mazeika (193-85, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Icelandic point guard Elvar Fridriksson (180-94, college: Barry) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 assists and Belgian power forward Andy Van Vliet (213-95, college: William & Mary) added 22 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Siauliai. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neptunas maintains sixth place with 14-22 record. Siauliai lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 23 games lost. Neptunas will have a break next round.
