Regular Season Round 28: Vichy Clermont - Poitiers 85-79
Date: May 11, 2021
Very expected game when 18th ranked Poitiers (5-18) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked JA Vichy (13-12) 85-79. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The winners were led by American point guard James Washington (182-87, college: MTSU) who scored that evening 23 points and 6 assists and power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: BIG) supported him with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by point guard Mathis Keita (192-92, college: IUP) did not help to save the game for Poitiers. American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: LeMoyne) added 15 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. JA Vichy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Evreux and Lille. Poitiers at the other side stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. JA Vichy's next round opponent will be higher ranked Quimper UJAP (#3) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Poitiers will play against Saint-Quentin (#4) and hope to win that game.
