We should mention about the upset which took place in Las Palmas, where higher ranked Valencia Basket (23-12) lost to ninth ranked Gran Canaria (17-18) in a road game 86-92 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Valencia Basket. The best player for the winners was international Javier Beiran (200-87) who scored 16 points. Lithuanian guard Tomas Dimsa (196-96) chipped in 18 points. Serbian forward Nikola Kalinic (202-91) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Montenegrin center Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Five Gran Canaria and four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gran Canaria moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Unicaja. Loser Valencia Basket keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. Gran Canaria will face Real Betis (#16) in Sevilla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Valencia Basket will play at home against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#15) and hope to win that game.
