Regular Season Round 36: Nantes - Rouen 85-69

There was no surprise when 14th ranked SPO Rouen (11-18) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Nantes (17-16) 85-69 on Tuesday. Strangely SPO Rouen outrebounded Nantes 45-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. SPO Rouen was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Jerome Sanchez (197-90) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists and American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who added 13 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Nantes players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American-Nigerian forward Christian Nwogbo (200-91, college: Cedarville) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and Congolese power forward Earvine Bassoumba (205-96) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Nantes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to tenth place. SPO Rouen lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Nantes will face league's leader Provence Basket in Fos-sur-Mer in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. SPO Rouen will play at home against Saint Chamond (#17) and hope to win that game.
