Regular Season Round 4: Amsterdam - Den Bosch 57-103

There was a minor upset when bottom-ranked Amsterdam (0-3) was crushed at home by top-ranked Den Bosch (5-0) 103-57 on Saturday. Den Bosch dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Amsterdam's 36 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Den Bosch forced 23 Amsterdam turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Den Bosch made 7 blocks. Center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland, agency: Duran International) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St.) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Den Bosch players scored in double figures. German Tibor Taras (198-97) produced 20 points and 4 assists and center Berend Weijs (207-88, college: Maryland) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Den Bosch have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Amsterdam still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Liege. Den Bosch will meet Yoast Utd. (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Amsterdam will play against Den Helder and hopes to get finally their first victory.
