Very important is a road loss of second ranked Leverkusen (3-1) against eleventh ranked SparkassenStars (2-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Leverkusen was defeated by SparkassenStars in a tough game in Bochum 86-91. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leverkusen. SparkassenStars looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Leverkusen's players. The winners were led by American guard Tony Hicks (186-94, college: Louisville, agency: GoEmpire Group) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists and the other American import forward Dominic Green (198-97, college: Washington) supported him with 20 points. Four SparkassenStars players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by American guard Quentin Goodin (193-97, college: Xavier) did not help to save the game for Leverkusen. Center Dennis Heinzmann (216-91) added 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. SparkassenStars moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Schwenningen. Loser Leverkusen keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Paderborn and Jena. SparkassenStars will meet Kirchheim Knights (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Leverkusen will play against Artland Dragons (#12) and hope to secure a win.
