Regular Season Round 5: Ternopil-TNEU - K.Sokoly 84-88

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked K.Sokoly and 10th ranked Ternopil-TNEU had identical 1-3 record. But Ternopil-TNEU was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Kharkiv 88-84 on Sunday night. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-84. K.Sokoly outrebounded Ternopil-TNEU 41-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was Max Mahoney (203-98, college: Boston U.) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Mike Davis (193-96, college: Queens, NC) chipped in 30 points. K.Sokoly's coach Valeriy Plehanov used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Joe Furstinger (208-96, college: N.Mexico, agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced 22 points and 5 rebounds and guard Dayon Griffin (196-95, college: UCF) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Four Ternopil-TNEU players scored in double figures. K.Sokoly (2-3) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Odessa. Loser Ternopil-TNEU dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. K.Sokoly will meet at home league's second-placed Khimik in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ternopil-TNEU will play against Zaporizhye (#12) and hope to win that game.
