Regular Season Round 6: K.Sokoly - Khimik 79-52

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Khimik (4-2) against seventh ranked K.Sokoly (3-3) on Friday night. Visiting Khimik was crushed by K.Sokoly in Kharkiv 79-52. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Khimik. The game without a history. K.Sokoly led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Khimik to just 7 points in second quarter. K.Sokoly dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Khimik's 24. They outrebounded Khimik 40-27 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American Troy Simons (191-96, college: Kent St., agency: Players Group) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import point guard Dajuan Graf (185-92, college: NCCU) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Point guard Vadym Kozak (183-99) replied with 11 points and American forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) added 5 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Khimik. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. K.Sokoly moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Krivbas. Khimik at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Budivelnyk and Kyiv Basket. K.Sokoly will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Khimik will play on the road against the league's second-placed Dnipro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
