Regular Season Round 5: Fuenlabrada 2 - Alcala 80-82

Very expected game when 12th ranked Fuenlabrada 2 (1-3) was edged by fourth ranked Alcala (4-1) in Madrid 82-80 on Saturday. Alcala outrebounded Fuenlabrada 2 44-33 including 32 on the defensive glass. Power forward Alvaro Biersack (198-95) nailed a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and forward Sergio Rodriguez (194-84) accounted for 13 points and 12 rebounds. Argentinian center Juan Fernandez (209-2) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and Jorge Viejo (194-1) added 28 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for Fuenlabrada 2 in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Alcala. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Real Madrid 2 and Quintanar. Fuenlabrada 2 lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with three games lost. They share it with Tenerife Naut. and Guimar. Alcala will meet at home La Matanza (#6) in the next round. Fuenlabrada 2 will play against Alcobendas (#10) and hope to win that game.
