Regular Season Round 7: Kyiv Basket - Zaporizhye 73-75

The most exciting game of round 7 in the Superleague took place in Kyiv. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Kyiv Basket (5-3) to eighth ranked Zaporizhye (3-6) 75-73 on Sunday evening. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Zaporizhye looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian guard Yasiin Joseph (186, college: Carleton) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Daeshon Francis (193-96, college: UTPB) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. American point guard Avery Woodson (188-93, college: Butler) answered with 25 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Bernard Thompson (191-93, college: FGCU) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Kyiv Basket. Zaporizhye maintains eighth place with 3-6 record, which they share with Mykolaiv and Odessa. Kyiv Basket at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Zaporizhye is looking forward to face higher ranked Khimik (#4) in Yuzhny in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kyiv Basket will have a break next round.
