Regular Season Round 9: Budivelnyk - Kyiv Basket 70-75

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kyiv: Kyiv Basket (#4) and Budivelnyk (#2). Budivelnyk was defeated at home 70-75 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Budivelnyk. The game without a history. Kyiv Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) who scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Artem Kovalov (202-97, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican guard Gian Clavell (193-93, college: Colorado St.) who recorded 34 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Alec Brown (216-92, college: Green Bay) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Budivelnyk's coach Igors Miglinieks rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kyiv Basket maintains fourth place with 5-3 record, which they share with K.Sokoly. Budivelnyk at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Khimik. Kyiv Basket is looking forward to face Odessa (#8) at home in the next round. Budivelnyk will play against K.Sokoly (#5) in Kharkiv and is hoping to win this game.
