Regular Season Round 5: Medvescak - Kastela 71-91

Bottom-ranked Medvescak (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fourth ranked Kastela (4-1) 91-71 on Saturday evening. Kastela made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Medvescak turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. Kastela looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Ante Perkusic (196-2) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Center Kresimir Elez (204-99) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Renato Serdarusic (196-1) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and Fran Grgic (-0) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Kastela. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kvarner 2010 and Dinamo. Medvescak lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Kastela will meet Dubrovnik (#6) on the road in the next round. Medvescak will play against Samobor (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
