Regular Season Round 5: Anadolu Efes - Galatasaray 85-92

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#8) and Efes (#4). Efes was defeated at home 85-92 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Galatasaray outrebounded Efes 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American-Bulgarian point guard Dee Bost (188-89, college: MSU) nailed a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side and Trinidad and Tobago-American swingman Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) accounted for 27 points and 6 rebounds. International guard Shane Larkin (182-92, college: Miami, FL) came up with 20 points and 8 assists and French Rodrigue Beaubois (190-88, agency: BeoBasket) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Efes in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Galatasaray (3-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Gaziantep. Galatasaray will meet at home Bursaspor (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Efes will play against Tofas (#3) in Bursa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
