There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Odessa (3-5) edged at home 8th ranked Zaporizhye (3-6) 68-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 17-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American point guard Charles Callison (185-95, college: WSU, agency: Slash Sports) stepped up and scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Latvian point guard Toms Leimanis (190-94) chipped in 20 points. Four Odessa players scored in double figures. Odessa's coach Oleg Yushkin used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Yasiin Joseph (186, college: Carleton) with 16 points and Lithuanian power forward Antanas Udras (203-92, agency: BIG) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Odessa moved-up to eighth place. Loser Zaporizhye dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Mykolaiv. Odessa will meet higher ranked Kyiv Basket (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zaporizhye will play against Mykolaiv (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
