Regular Season Round 7: Angers - Cergy-Pontoise 98-60

No shocking result in a game when leader Etoile Angers (7-0) smashed at home 10th ranked Pontoise (2-5) 98-60 on Tuesday. Etoile Angers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pontoise's 30. Etoile Angers forced 25 Pontoise turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Pontoise's players. It was a great evening for American point guard Akaemji Williams (175-96, college: LSSU) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 steals. Swingman Stephan Gauthier (192-95) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Etoile Angers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Vinnie Shahid (180-98, college: NDSU) responded with 15 points and naturalized Senegalese forward Antoine Mendy (198-83, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Etoile Angers have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group A with 7-0 record. Pontoise lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with Rennes and Les Sables. Etoile Angers will meet La Rochelle (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pontoise will play against Les Sables and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
