Regular Season Round 3: TSU - Vera 98-67

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: TSU (#1) and Vera (#7). TSU (3-0) crushed visiting Vera (1-2) by 31 points 98-67. The game without a history. TSU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. TSU outrebounded Vera 52-29 including a 45-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Lovell Cabbil (190-97, college: Liberty) who led the winners and scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Senegalese power forward Pape Diop (204, college: SE Louisiana) accounted for 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four TSU players scored in double figures. Guard Giorgi Tsirikidze (202-98) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Aubrey McAlpine (196-89, college: RMU, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points respectively for Vera in the defeat. Vera's coach Davit Gasitashvili gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. TSU will meet Rustavi (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vera's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Mega.
